On the 1900 Census, William (Line No: 55) was listed as being 37 years old, and works as a brakeman. He and Ella, age 30, (Line No: 56) was born in August, 1869, and have been married for 11 years with two children living. Both parents were born in OH. They are living at 504 East Second Street in Chillicothe, Ross Co., OH. Lizzie Simpson, age 47 is working as a servant. [215]For some reason, during the time period of February, 1904, William Zeph wasnt doing well. He was having a hard time remembering names and places, having trouble sleeping and difficulty in speaking.[58]
Ella, at that time, with three children (Zenner at 14, Nellie at 12, and Rachel at 2), having symptoms of T.B., and running a boarding house, probably could not find the time to take care of Zeph, during that time period.
With that in mind, on the 3rd of February, 1904, Ella had no choice but to have William committed to a hospital.[58] On the 4th of February, 1904, he was sent to the hospital in Athens, Ohio to be looked after. Within the medical records sent in by Williams medical doctor, Dr. Charles Hoyt, one page noted that, when William was fourteen (14) years old (ca 1876), he was listed Had an injury of head. I, Bruce W. Taylor, am trying to find out what happened during that time period which might have lead him into the hospital in 1904.
About 11 months later, at 7:10 pm, on the 26th of January, 1905, a telegram came in from the hospital saying: William Z. Taylor dead, please notify friends. [58] On the official death record, Williams death was listed as paralysis. [57]
Obituary: Death of Z.W. Taylor (sic, should be W. Z.), Scioto Gazette, Chillicothe, Ohio, Friday Evening, January 27, 1905. W.Z. Taylor died at the hospital at Athens on Thursday, of a complication of diseases. The deceased was forty-two years of age and was formerly a very popular conductor on the local railroads. He was a member of the No. 243 J.H. Stewart Lodge and of the Order of Railway Conductors. He leaves a father and mother, a wife and four children to mourn his death. He was born on April 1st., 1862. The funeral services will be held from the residence, No. 457 East Water Street, at two-thirty oclock Sunday afternoon, the body having shipped to this city this afternoon. Rev. Elizabeth Howard and Rev. Hart will officiate. The body will be taken to Cutler, O, over the B. & O. S.-W. Monday morning for burial.[59]
Please Note: He leaves a father and mother, a wife and FOUR CHILDREN to mourn his death. As of this date (2004), we do not know about a 4th child! As a family descendant, we only know of three children. This fourth, unknown child might be Charley W. Taylor, as signed in, on an Application For Probate of Will on William Billy Taylors Last Will and Testament.[61] Between 1894 (when Nellie M. was born), and 1902 (when Rachel Elizabeth was born), there would be enough time to have another child, but, I don't think so. He would have been listed in the 1900 Census. (I don't know at this time - Bruce W. Taylor, 2004).

In 1913, this photograph was taken of Zenner and his crew on Engine No. 1578.
Zenner worked and retired as a Brakeman and Conductor experience with 50 years service to the B&O Railroad.[29,322] Source number 322 is an actual typed document dated April 12, 1960 of Zenners work record by the B&O Railroad Company.

1913 (Newspaper Article) LEANING OUT OF TRAIN:
Brakeman Struck Bridge Projection and Fell, Sustaining Injuries.
As the result of a strange accident last night E. Z. (sic/should be Z.E.) Taylor, 23, a brakeman on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, is in a serious condition at the Selton Hospital. Taylor, who was on the late passenger train from Columbus, noticed a hot box on the last car. He leaned from the steps of the car ahead in order to see how badly the box was burning.
Just at that time the train came to the Gest-street bridge and Taylor was struck by a projection and hurled from the car. He fell to the street unconscious. Joseph Rich, a fellow brakeman, noticed the accident and rang the bell to stop the train. Taylor was taken to the station, from where an ambulance of J.J. Sullivan carried him to the hospital. Relatives at his home in Chillicothe, Ohio, were notified of his condition. (I do not know what paper this came from. Date of paper was figured out by the age of Zenner from his birth date, 1890) [317]
In August, 1919, Zenner was living at 307 East Second Street in Chillicothe, OH. This is when he wrote a letter on the 8th of Oct., 1919 to the Disbursing Clerk, Bureau of War Risk Insurance, Treasury Dept., Washington, DC, in sending a money order for $3.45 (premium) for the month of October (1919) on his insurance policy for $5,000. His policy number was 2297154, and the allotment number was 24763630. [92]
In the 1920 OH Census, Zenner was a boarder, 29 years old and single, living on 619 South Pearl Street ( Walter W. and Bernice Kadel) [308] in Columbus, OH. He was listed as working as a Brakeman on the railroad. [230]

From a diary (1923) that Zenner kept on his RR work, he also listed other family events. One event was on the 28th of August, 1923, Mildreds cycle was early this morning." 29th of August, 1923, We took Mildred to White Cross Hospital about 1:20a. 8-10-23, baby born at 10:00 p.m. - dead, Our Darling Boy. After that, Zenner listed each day that Mildred was in bed. Ended on the 28th of Sept., 1923 after Mildred spending 29 days in bed. On the 30th of Sept., 1923, Mildred came downstairs. To see a actual copy of this diary, See Source Number 318.[318]

They also made the front page of the sports section of the Columbus Dispatch, watching the Jets play, with their bag of food and drinks. I (Bruce W. It was 1:45 when we reached Mattoon (IL), so I missed my appointment with the Hearing Aid Clinic. I was afraid we were leaving too late, but I hated to push them when they had been so good to me - Their home (Hearing Aid) office is in Champaign so Ill have to go there on a day convenient for Betty. That hole in the radiator really cost her, but the filling station manager said the Co. had insurance for such accident so that will help her.
Tony lost 2 nights of work + Thurs. & Frid. are his regular nights off - but it was just something that happened - I was so happy to see Gordon Ginny, & David - Gordon is a lovable person & so kind to me. What a joy it was to see Ginny so good. I am glad Florence is staying with you for at least a little while.
The baby was real good, slept most of the way. I think he is a good baby & Jeanine & Gundy both love him dearly - wish things XXX(cant read) different with Saras husband, but that doesnt keep them from loving the innocent baby-

Obituary: The Daily Times, Portsmouth, Scioto Co., OH, March 19, 1968
WELFARE WORKER IS 6TH TRAFFIC VICTIM OF YEAR
A caseworker in the Scioto County Welfare Department was injured fatally Tuesday afternoon in an unusual accident on Rose Hill Road near Lucasville. Norman Taylor, 59, of 401 Campbell Ave. died at 12:10 a.m. today in Scioto Memorial Hospital about 9 1/2 hours after the accident.
Death is reported to have been caused by internal hemorrhaging, attributed by a physician to injuries suffered in the accident, patrolmen of the Portsmouth post of the Ohio Highway Patrol said.
The death of Taylor, thus, raised to six the number of traffic fatalities in Scioto County this years, three have died in traffic accidents in Portsmouth and three on the county's rural road and highways this year.
Taylor, a caseworker with the welfare department for 19 months, apparently had just left the home of a welfare department recipient when the accident happened. The 1962 model car he was driving stalled on Rose Hill Road north of Lucasville and about 2 1/2 miles east of Route 23 at 2:45 p.m.
Taylor, who had been driving up Rose Hill Road at the time got out of the car and started shoving it back downhill, apparently from a position at the side of the auto. He then attempted to get back into the auto as it was rolling downhill, but the auto had gained too much momentum. He is believed to have been knocked to the road by the car, which continued on downhill swerved from the road and crashed into a tree.
Taylor told patrolmen he was knocked out for a moment or two. When he regained consciousness, he went to a nearby house, and the resident took him to Scioto Memorial Hospital.
The caseworker, who had suffered facial lacerations, is reported to have been given emergency treatment and released from the hospital. He returned to the hospital Tuesday night and was admitted. He died there at 12:10 a.m. today. The sedan Taylor was driving was damaged heavily in the accident, patrolmen said.
A native of Franklin County, Taylor formerly taught in the Wheelersburg School System, and worked at the William's Shoe Co. for 32 years.
